AraboFriesian - specially tuned Friesians

A touch of desert Arabian blood makes them specially tuned Friesians: Arabo-Friesians find more and more enthusiasts.

An idyllic countryside, between forest and vineyards, is the home of Günter, Elke and Rouven Erny. Here we live together with free-range chickens, ducks, gooses, sheeps, two cats, 2 Dobermann girls and naturaly with our Friesian and AraboFriesian. The town Weinsberg near Heilbronn is in Baden-Württemberg in the south of Germany.

Brianne Goutal

Brianne Goutal

At the young age of 19, Brianne Goutal earned her place in the upper echelons of show jumping. In 2007, she was the winner of the Maxine Beard Show Jumping Developing Rider Award, given by the USET Foundation for her competitive record to date and her promise for representing the United States in international competition in the future.

In 2009 Goutal and the KWPN mare Ralvesther teamed up for impressive Grand Prix finishes. They won the $75,000 Grand Prix of Lake Placid in June, Goutal is the youngest rider to win this class in the events forty year history. In August, they won the $50,000 Sussex Grand Prix. In 2010, the pair has collected a sixth place finish in the $75,000 Adequan Grand Prix at the Winter Equestrian Festival.

Beginning in 2007 as one of the top 20 riders on the FTI Rider Challenge list during the 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, Goutal then rode as part of the U.S. Developing Rider European tour and helped the U.S. to Nations Cup wins in Finland and Sweden. In 2008, she and Onira were reserve champions in the $50,000 Smart for Life Grand Prix CSI 2* at the WEF. They then went on to represent the U.S. at the 2008 World Cup Final in Sweden.

In 2004, Goutal became the first rider to ever win all four major equitation finals: the 2004 USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals-East, the 2004 Washington International Equitation Classic Finals, the 2005 USEF/Pessoa Hunter Seat Medal Finals and the 2005 ASPCA Maclay National Championships. In that same year, she was featured on the Animal Planet’s “Horse Power” TV series about the road to the Maclay. In addition, Goutal won team Gold at the North American Young Riders’ Championship and at the USEF National Junior Jumper Championship in Harrisburg, PA.

In 2005, Goutal rode in her first grand prix class at the Garden State Horse Show, then returned to the same show in 2006 to win her first grand prix with Onira. Also in 2005, Goutal was awarded the USET Foundation’s Lionel Guerrand- Hermes Trophy, recognizing her as the Junior/Young Rider best exemplifying the ideals of sportsmanship and horsemanship. This capped an historic year during which she won the USEF Medal Finals, ASPCA Maclay Finals, and individual and team Gold Medals at the North American Young Riders’ Championships

Continuing to build her outstanding legacy in the show ring, Goutal was named the 2006 Junior Equestrian of the Year by the United States Equestrian Federation. She was also chosen to represent the United States Equestrian Team at the 2006 Nations Cup competition in Buenos Aires, Brazil, where her strong performances helped the U.S. win the Team Gold medal.

Goutal graduated from the Professional Childrens School in New York and is currently a student at Brown University in Providence, RI, where she is a member of the equestrian team. She trains with Max Amaya of Stonehenge Stables and credits much of her early success to Frank and Stacia Madden of Beacon Hill Show Stables. Goutal plans to keep showing at the grand prix level and adding to her international experiences.

Sal`s Chief Mystique, "Misty" was sired by Warrior`s Grey Chief out of our Sambo`s Saddling Sal mare who was the 1972 two year old Model Class Champion, third at the 1972 Futurity and at the Show & Celebration. Misty is a well built doe-eyed light bay sabino mare and a great mom having produced some really outstanding eye-catching sabino fillies and colts who mature to 15.2 Her 2002 sabino smoky black stud colt, Joe`s Jupiter, is for sale as is her 2001 Palomino stud colt, Joe`s Gold Mystique. In April of 2003, we expect her to produce a flashy foal sired by Danny`s Pride of Princess, and it could be highly marked sabino champagne!

Your First Race Horse

Now that you have seen all the fun we have, it is time to look into race horse ownership for yourself. There are several ways to go about this. You have to start by figuring out what your initial budget will be. From there you need to decide if you want to buy privately, or at the sales, or claim a horse. There is the option of buying a mare and breeding your own, but as you can see from my foal page, that is a very long road.

It has often been said that buying the horse is the cheap part. Keep room in your budget for the trainers daily rate (I charge $40 per day) shoes, vet bills, pony fees and jock mounts. While all these fees can and do add up, nothing can compare to the feeling you get when your very own horse walks into the winner`s circle.

I welcome inquiries into getting started in racing as well as taking new clients that already have race horses. Please contact me Laurierace@aol.com to get the ball rolling. In the meantime lets watch the Preakness from barn 2 at Pimlico. You can run in and peek on your horse inbetween races! See you there!
